The background on this story is that back in ‘99 I took a trip to Italy. While there, I took some water from the Trevi Fountain, a famous landmark and tourist attraction in Rome. I have kept that very same water, sealed in a cheap plastic water for the past 9 years. At one time, something had tried to grow in there but whatever it was, it has long since died off. In short, it was pretty gross, but I kept it around because it reminded me of the trip. I finally dumped it this past weekend and threw away the bottle.

I just installed a backup plugin for this blog. Hopefully, I’ll never have to go through another blog recovery (read: too lazy to recover).

Our friends got together this July 4th and we played the Endless Setlist from the Rock Band game and passed on Hard! We had to re-try two or three songs but between the bunch of us (there were seven of us) we were able to make it through with only a few breaks. Unfortunately, because we normally play on Expert level, we didn’t earn any extra fans. We didn’t play Expert level in the first place because it’s too hard!

Someone (maybe me) needs to invent a vehicle grounding strip that never wears down or needs to be replaced. I doubt an item like this would be patent-able since it wouldn’t include anything “non-obvious”.

I poked around the Interweb looking for divorce rate statistics and the only things that out there pertain to per capita rates, not the measure of marriages that eventually end in divorce. I was hoping to use this as fodder for this blog post, but the truth of the matter is that there is no accurate measurement for this. I saw one post on a forum that said that the divorce rate is simply “way too much”.
I recently found out that an old college friend of mine is going through a divorce. I never think it’ll happen to me or to anyone I know so each time this happens, I am quite surprised. I think I’m a bit sensitized because I was front row and center to a divorce as it happened (no, I was not involved). Just watching their marriage fall apart in front of my eyes was pretty horrendous. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.

Maybe it’s the strange mix of airplane fuel and exhaust fumes, but stepping off the airplane in Chicago I was immediately hit with the feeling that I was suddenly back “home” again. Not the home that I share with Rita now, but the home that I grew up in. The thick, humid air reminded me of memories past - high school and college, particularly. I even felt a tear or two well up as I was driving to my parents’ house - with the windows down, of course.

On today’s airing of The Price is Right on CBS you should be able to see me and my friends in the fourth row behind Contestant’s Row. We attended a taping of the show a few weeks back and the episode is finally showing. We’re all wearing light blue shirts with the plinko logo on it. Look for us and let me know if you can see us! If you missed today’s taping, I believe that CBS has a few archived episodes on their website.

I have been frustrated at work because they block my chat client of choice - Trillian. Things came to a head this morning when I was using AIM’s crappy client and it continuously spawned hundreds of ad-based IE windows. I looked around for a while and found Meebo, a web-based service similar to Trillian. It took a while to get it configured correctly but so far I have not had any problems.

Wimbledon is on TV again! I spent a few minutes of my morning routine to watch Sharapova win her first round match. Has anyone been to Wimbledon and have any tips for getting tickets, accommodations, etc? I bet with the dollar as weak as it is against the pound, it’ll be quite expensive to get there next year.

Haven’t had the time nor the motivation to blog since it got hosed last time. Maybe I’ll start up again and maybe I won’t.
